I had an excellent exchange with Ambassador Mohamed Edrees, Permanent Observer of the African Union to the United Nations, on Africa’s role in the work of the General Assembly.
As preparations advance for the 81st session, President-elect Dr. Khalilur Rahman is committed to engaging closely with the African Union and its Member States. Their perspectives and experience will be essential to our work on peace and security, sustainable development, climate action, emerging technologies and the renewal of the United Nations.
Africa is a major source of ideas, innovation, resilience and leadership. Its contribution will be central to building a fairer, stronger and more effective multilateral system.
A strong partnership between the African Union and the United Nations is indispensable to our shared future.
